Zinc Electroplating

Zinc Plating is the traditional plating used for corrosion protection. The process works by depositing a thin layer of zinc onto a metal component. A bond forms that creates a protective zinc-metal alloy between the materials. The outer surface of the zinc coating corrodes to form zinc oxide, which provides an additional physical barrier against air and water to protect against rust. Zinc plating is used extensively for small parts such as screws, bolts and other fasteners.

Benefits:

  • Very high corrosion resistance
  • Smooth surface
  • Reduces wear
  • Excellent coverage
  • MIL-STD-171D
  • AMS 2470
  • Masking may increase turn time
  • Hexavalent and RoHS compliant trivalent chromates available in variety of colors
